Bild von der Donau

The STREAM project (The Sounds of the Danube: Towards an Interdisciplinary Environmental Education) promotes environmental awareness and environmental education through a combination of scientific and artistic approaches. Along the Danube in Germany, Austria, Hungary and Serbia, both the water quality of the river and the sounds of the Danube are analysed in the context of their natural and cultural environment and communicated to the population in low-threshold, on-site environmental education programmes.

The public in the countries involved in the project is thus made aware of the water pollution of the Danube and the soundscape of the river and motivated to protect the environment. Digital offerings (e.g. a sound map of the Danube) also ensure sustainable access to educational programmes relating to the Danube.
